Then Life Will Begin

Are you waiting until you have enough money, get a better job, buy a bigger house or take a dream vacation?

Life will start happening, right?

This was me for a very long time. I was always waiting until I got out of college, got that dream job, married that guy, bought that house, always waiting for something to get out of my way before I could actually enjoy my life, really live happily or at least have some fun.

How sad is that?

You know what I was doing, I was anticipating things were going to happen and by doing this I became stressed out when things didn’t happen fast enough or didn’t happen at all.

And I wasn’t enjoying what was really happening in that moment, to busy worrying about the future to see what I already had right in front of me.

Have you ever wanted something or couldn’t wait to get somewhere only to be disappointed, the thrill you thought you were going to experience didn’t happen?

Experts say, it’s the journey, not the destination.

And you know what, I now believe this. I’m working on being more “in the moment”, as they say, enjoying the ride and what I already have and I have a lot to be grateful for. Thank You!

getting to know myself better, what are my desires, what makes me happy ?

After years and years and years of helping others (I’m an oncology nurse if you didn’t know that) and hearing my patients tell me time and againĀ “Do what you want to do now because tomorrow you could get the worst news of your life” I’ve decided it’s time to take care of me.

It’s one of the reason for this blog because it’s helping me to get out of my own way, to journal about what I’m passionate about in my life such as sharing my adventure stories, taking lots of pictures and expressing my thoughts on life.

There’s more to come on this topic so stay tuned.

So how about you, are you living in the moment, or are you letting life pass you by?

Let me know in the comments below, would love to hear your thoughts on this topic.

  1. I commend you for this. I have learned from meeting a variety of hikers that we need to follow our hearts wherever they lead us. Oftentimes, we are bound to the norms of society only to realize later on that there are greater forces than those dictated by the external. Listening to the internal voice is when we start to live. Cheers for doing what you love and adding joy to your daily life in doing so. I’m with you on that 100%.

  2. Love this! I, too, stepped out of my comfort zone this year and decided to live life to the fullest. What an amazing experience it has been! Congratulations on deciding to live your life and not wait for something to happen! Can’t wait to read about more of your experiences!
