Are you waiting until you have enough money, get a better job, buy a bigger house or take a dream vacation?
Life will start happening, right?
This was me for a very long time. I was always waiting until I got out of college, got that dream job, married that guy, bought that house, always waiting for something to get out of my way before I could actually enjoy my life, really live happily or at least have some fun.
How sad is that?
You know what I was doing, I was anticipating things were going to happen and by doing this I became stressed out when things didn’t happen fast enough or didn’t happen at all.
And I wasn’t enjoying what was really happening in that moment, to busy worrying about the future to see what I already had right in front of me.
Have you ever wanted something or couldn’t wait to get somewhere only to be disappointed, the thrill you thought you were going to experience didn’t happen?
Experts say, it’s the journey, not the destination.
And you know what, I now believe this. I’m working on being more “in the moment”, as they say, enjoying the ride and what I already have and I have a lot to be grateful for. Thank You!
I’ve also been exploring what self awareness is.
I’m no expert but the definition of self awareness for me isgetting to know myself better, what are my desires, what makes me happy ?
After years and years and years of helping others (I’m an oncology nurse if you didn’t know that) and hearing my patients tell me time and again “Do what you want to do now because tomorrow you could get the worst news of your life” I’ve decided it’s time to take care of me.
It’s one of the reason for this blog because it’s helping me to get out of my own way, to journal about what I’m passionate about in my life such as sharing my adventure stories, taking lots of pictures and expressing my thoughts on life.
There’s more to come on this topic so stay tuned.
So how about you, are you living in the moment, or are you letting life pass you by?
